Scrapping Disaster

Have you ever had a scrapping disaster? I have had a couple in my time but last nights was the most annoying! I had nearly finished this page and I thought it would be a good idea to add a home grown swirl along the bottom of the photo using perfect pearls. I had kept the waste from a Zva Creative swirl and used it as a template to pierce the shape of the swirl onto the page...so far so good. Next I used my perfect pearls to cover up the holes and create my swirl....not so good. I hated how it looked and you really couldn't make out the proper shape of the swirl so I wiped it off which made it even worse! I contemplated ending it all (the layout that is) but thought there must be some way I could cover up the smudged pearls and pierced holes. So out came the butterfly punch and some Zva pearls. As long as you don't look too closely it is sort of alright!

Here's how I do it ...first before using my crystals (ideally) mark them with a permanent marker like a Sharpy on the back of the backing.
Now you can take a piece of transparency, acetate, or page protector place it over the template and apply your Liquid pearls to that allow to dry well (I usually do a bunch and put them in a box for future use)
now you just cut close to your pearls and then you can mount with your glossy accents onto your page....you do have glossy accents don't you??! (any clear drying glue will do)

You can't tell (I've done the same as you....the wipe is worse than the perfect pearls :) - will have to try scrapthats tip too...still never managed to get a great shaped pearl either). Anyway your LO is gorgeous and you can't tell at all.

A beautiful layout Rachel - I love how you layer up papers and embellishments effortlessly. Your disaster is unnoticeable! I once rubbed a rub on accidentally onto the middle of the photo on my layout-disaster! I could have cried as it happened just as I thought I had finished the layout. I had to reprint the photo and stick it over the top! Really enjoying your blog by the way :)

LOL!! Been there, done that :) ...you'd never know you had a problem with it....the page came out beautiful! I've gone through all the trouble of making the pin marks and the swirls actually came out nice but then I was impatient and didn't wait for the paint to dry before I did more fiddling with the page and ended up smearing the beads of paint. Butterflies are a good solution! :)
