WOYWDS

I know a lot of scrappers document what is on their workdesks on a Wednesday but I thought I would show you what was on my desk and pretty much scattered all around my craft room yesterday after creating just one layout! I am usually pretty organised and a bit of a tidy freak but you would never know it looking at this lol.
I wasn't meant to be designing with Sarah's Cards October kit but due a change in cirmcumstances Sarah needed another DT member to work on it and lucky old me got to play! I was so pleased as I just love the Crate Paper Restoration range, it is definitley right up my street. I have been busy creating in my messy craft room all weekend and amazingly for me I have created three pages in two days! I thought you might like to see a little sneak peak of one of them.

Mix and Mend.

When I saw these Mix and Mend papers on line I wasn't really sure how you could use them but I wanted to give them a go as they were so different. I decided that the elements on the Handmade Hobnob paper would look good layered up so I bought two sheets, one to use as the background and the other to cut up.

I cut around the lace on my bacground paper so that I could slip the photo underneath it, I also cut around the end of the brown strip of paper along the bottom and added different elements underneath it. I screwed up the edges of the strip to add depth and make it look like the strip had been added to the layout and wasn't already printed on the paper. One of the lovely things of the Sassafras papers is the edging strip, on this paper range they are especially nice. I cut the one from the bottom of this paper and then trimmed the left hand side of the page and added the die cut strip.

I think this is a photo that I am going to be scrapping quite a bit as this is the second page I have used it on in the last week! I can't share the first yet.

And Finally

Here is the last page that I created for the current issue of SBM, I absolutley love these photos of Rebecca that were taken on her second birthday. The backgroud paper is MME lush and it lives up to its name, the dotty pattern is flocked so very tactile. I have raised the semi circle off the page using chipboard to allow the lace to "float" on the page.

I am really looking forward to tomorrow as my lovely scrapping friend Jill is coming to see me for the day. We met through a team on UKS and always have a great time when we meet up, plenty of scrapping and chatting and she usually manages to persuade me that I need some sort of scrapping tool! Not that I ever take much persuading lol. I am hoping to have a stash delivery from Sarah tomorrow, I have ordered some of the new Sassafras papers and embellishments which I have had my eye on for ages and are now in stock, so much for being on a stash diet!!!

Sketch Challenge

One of my favourite paper ranges has to be MME and these Alphabet Soup papers didn't dissapoint me they are just gorgeous. They went perfectly with this photo of my cousins little boy at our annual family picnic in the New Forest which just happened to be her 30th birthday too hench the birthday cake. I created this page for the sketch challenge over on Sarah's Cards blog, the sketch was designed by Rachel Ward and it was such fun to use.

For some reason I can't seem to get blogger to post links tonight (it is probably just me) but I am sure you will be able to find Sarah's Cards blog if you fancy joining in with the challenge.

Mind The Gap

Josh is not a very willing model when it comes to having photos taken which is very frustrating, as soon as I point the camera in his direction he usually hides his face or pulls a silly face. When he lost his two front teeth he was very proud to show me his gappy smile so I took advantage of it and managed to snap this photo. This was another one of the layouts that was in SBM and he is so proud of it, he is going to take it in to show and tell at school.
I found this fab corrugated cardstock by Creative Imaginations and absolutely love it, it adds a great textured look to your page. Another one of my more recent scrapbook finds has been twine, I used to cut the string off of clothes tags and use that but found the lenghts very limiting. I found a site that sold crafters twine and now have a huge roll of it! It is so easy to use, I lightly mark where I want the twine to go in pencil and then fix a small section at a time using strong wet glue.

Adorable...

House work is all done, well all except the ironing but I thought I would do a blog post and share another of my Scrapbook Magazine layouts.
This photo of Rebecca just a few hours old with her Daddy is her favourite photo and she has a framed copy in her room. I have scrapped it before but hey who says you can't scrap the same photo more than once!
All of the stash has come from Sarah's Cards, I don't often use overlays but when I saw this doily lace one I had to have it. I have gutted the middle of the overlay as it is totally covered and it seemed a shame to waste it. I glued the overlay to the background cardstock in areas where it wouldn't be seen.
The Prima felt was perfect to add extra layers too, I cut out a small piece of patterned paper and stuck it over the back of the flowers and then added some layers to the tops. I created the leaves by tracing around each leaf to get the exact shape, cut it out and then stuck them onto the felt.
I am not a great blogger but I do enjoy keeping one and I really appreciate all the comments that I am left so a big thankyou.

Mothers Love

For the latest issue of Scrapbook Magazine I was asked to write an article on creating different edges on your pages, I really enjoyed creating the layouts to accompany the article and it was a good excuse to buy some more punches and stash! I always feel so flattered and honoured when asked to create layouts for the magazine and the girls love seeing themselves in print. I have used a photo of my little nephew this month too, he can't wait to take the magazine into school for show and tell! Anyway here is the first layout that I put together, I think I have bought these Girls Paparie papers three times I absolutley love them, each time I have used them on a page I have had to reorder them to keep in my stash!

I have used MME chipboard and K & Co die cuts to embellish the page along with Girls Paperie ruler ribbon which I just love.
I am trying to be really good this month and have put myself on a stash diet, but it is so hard when Sarah is getting in so much gorgeous stash. I am really tempted by the new WRMK range 72 and Sunny but I am trying really hard to resist!! This scrapbooking lark really is a serious addiction lol.
I will post the rest of my pages over the weekend hopefully although time will be limited as I have to work on Sunday, the first time I have worked a weekend for nearly 4 years. We are finally moving the unit where I work back up to the main hospital and have been given Sunday and Monday to get everything moved and set up before we open again for patients on Tuesday! Could be an interesting couple of days.

Family Portrait

Back in March I was asked it I would like to create a layout for Scrapbook Trends, I was so excited and obviously said yes please! The layout was meant to feature in the June issue but as most of you probably know there have been some problems and the magazine hasn't been published. I'm not sure what has happened to my page but I thought I would at least share it with you here.
I really enjoyed creating this page and tried a few techniques I had seen on line. The tag was inked using brown distress ink then scrunched up a bit. I used a black ink pad to highlight the raised areas and then lightly sprayed the whole tag with water making the black ink run. The tag was then ironed flat, I also used distress inks on the the grunge board bracket.

Saunton Sands

I haven't had any time for much scrapping over the last week so I don't have anything crafty to show but I have managed to get some good scrapping material. On Friday we went to the Saunton Sands Hotel, it was our third visit and it was as lovely as ever. Here are a few of my favourite photos (I managed to take nearly 1000 in 3 days! mind you I did a lot in the pool where I had the camera on sports mode so it was on continuous shooting....thats my excuse!)
The view from the hotel.
Emily on the beach, she was our expert crab catcher! I managed to get soaking wet paying more attention to trying to take a photo of Rebecca than watching the waves.
Rebecca sat on the hotel garden wall.
Emily in the hotel lounge. These two photos are my favourite from the whole weekend.
Another photo taken on sports mode, I love how the photo has captured her shadow as she has jumped.
Hopefully I will have some scrapping to share with you soon.
