Bloom and Grow

A little while ago Sarah sent me some gorgeous papers to work with, they were from the MME Bloom and Grow range, I had the Bloom range....here. I used them to create this layout.

Back in November 2007 I did a layout based on this idea for each of the girls, it was an idea that I got from UKS. They are great layouts to look back on, I love the fact that the girls get to write their own answers on the page and it records their thoughts and handwriting. I thought it was about time that I did another one so I have started with one for Emily. I printed out the questions using microsoft office and lots of different fonts, then cut them into strips. Emily pracitsed her answers on some scrap paper first and then wrote it out in best on the layout. Some of her answers I have expanded on the back of the layout as she didn't really have enough room to explain her reasoning. For the question "what would you change about your life" she answered be rich, I thought she was going to say so she could buy something or spend loads but she carried on by saying she really wanted to help the children in Africa and if she was rich she could. I thought that was lovely and I felt very proud of her.

Fab Weekend!

I bought tickets to go to Ally Pally back in February when Justin was in China, we had gone last year and made a weekend of it as we live a 3 hour train ride away. Last time we stayed with Justins relatives which was lovely but this year we decided to stay in a hotel so we were more in the heart of London.
We travelled up on Friday morning and spent the afternoon walking around London (laterly in the pouring rain!!!) we had fun regardless and we found the most gorgeous cake shop which sold the most amazing cakes! We went back the next day and bought some more to take away. We are now both on strict diets as we ate so much!

The most scrummy cakes ever!!

In the evening we went to see Les Miserables, what can I say it was just amazing!!!! Brought a tear to my eye and even Justin said it gave him goose bumps they were just fantastic, I could have watched it all again. We were going to walk home (good job we didn't as we didn't realise just how far it was!!) but then thought it would be fun to hire one of those rik shaws, it was so funny. I felt quite guilty for making the poor guy peadle so far, lol!

On the Rik Shaw

Saturday we decided to explore the city without using the tube at all so by the end of the day our feet were extrememly sore! We did see a lot though, we went the the V and A museum as well which was really interesting. This fab balloon sculpture was just amazing.

Are we lost?!?!?!?

Walking back to our hotel along the Thames

Sunday was what the weekend was all about........Ally Pally!!!! We got up early and made our way across London and actually got to the venue early. It was really lovely as I met up with Angie and her friend Jude who were both just so lovely. Justin spent 2.5 hours in the bar watching the motor racing (don't think he minded too much) while the three of us oohhhed and ahhhed our way around the hall packed full of gorgeous stash!! I could have spent a fourtune, think it was a good I didn't have time to go around a second time, lol. I had wanted to try and find some more embellishments rather than buy too much more patterned paper and I think I succeeded.

Angie, Jude and I with our loot.

We found some fab thick chipboard scalloped shapes which are great to use as templates, I was really pleased with those.

Some of my favourite embellishments were these buttons.

I think we may try and make our weekend trip to London a yearly experience (over Ally Pally weekend of course!!)

I was given Sarahs cards kit to play with this month, I didn't think it was going to be my colours as I don't usually scrap with purple but when our German student was here she converted Rebecca to be a lover of purple and wore a fair bit of it herself so I ended up with the perfect photos, I really loved the little leaf pins.

On this LO I got Rebecca to write about her experience of having Sarah here and then I have hidden it behind the photo.

Think I had better stop now this has taken me ages, I am sure there must be an easier way!! (think it could have something to do with the fact that I kept deleting the photos!)

Summer is on the way!!

Fingers crossed summer is finally on its way, we have had some beautiful warm, sunny days although I have to say they have been usually when I have been at work!!

Rebecca at the Nothe

Life has been very hectic, we have had Rebeccas German exchange student, Sarah, and Emilys French exchange student, Manon, here over the last three weeks.
We were a bit concerned about Rebeccas student as she is 2 years older than Rebecca, when we went up to the school to pick her up poor Rebecca was so worried but they got on so well. Sarahs English was fantastic and she intergrated into family life immediatley. We had a lovely 8 days with her here and Rebecca was really upset when it was time for her to go. She is now counting down the days until she goes over to Germany!

Sarah, Emily and Rebecca

We took Sarah on a walk around the Island to show her the views across to Weymouth

Sarah took this family group photo, a very rare shot!!

Sarahs favourite colour was purple so while she was staying Rebecca was converted!! She had to buy the purple top when she was shopping with Sarah

One day after Sarah went back we had to go and pick Manon up, she had come last year so it was lovely to see her again.

I went to Ikea on Sunday and managed to find some great storage for some of my 12x12 papers and embellishments, it was really cheap as well, just under £9 for the frame and under £4 for each of the drawers/baskets. Justin has managed to fix some hardboard onto the top, it is made so that you can stack more units on top so has no top surface.

My new storage

I have been quite busy scrapping as well over the last few weeks, Sarah sent me the April kit and it is gorgeous!! Can't show you what I have done with it yet though. I have done another few layouts, I loved this paper collection from Basic Grey and had great fun putting this layout together.

Rebecca a few years ago on Emilys birthday. I have used some of the new Basic Grey Porcelain collection.

A layout that I did using the March Scrapagogo kit, first photo that I have scrapped of Justins trip to China.

I blogged a sneak peek of this layout on my last entry, these paper by MME are just scrummy, some great designs and fab weight too.

Thats all for now, housework beckons!!
