March Sketch Challenge.

Are you up for another challenge? This months sketch challenge has just gone up over at My Creative Sketches and as always Pam has got an amazing prize to give away just have a look at this....

Here is the sketch, you have got until April 14th to get your entry in, check out all the details over on the sketch blog here. You can also see how the rest of the design team used the sketch, there are some stunning creations over there!

Here is my take, I recently bought some October Afternoon Farmhouse papers the colours and designs are gorgeous!

I am loving the wood grain effect papers that are around at the moment, they create such a great background. I have had this one for ages, it was an A4 sheet from Kanban but I know MME have got some great ones out at the moment. Definitely on my NEED list!

I used some natural hemp twine around the edge of my page, knotting and stitching it in different ways, you can only just see the edge of it on the photo but it gives a great border to the page.

Thank you for taking the time to check out my blog.

Altered Cigar Box

My parting project for Scrapbook Magazine wasn't a layout but an altered project, Lindsey asked me to create a baby keepsake box using a Darice cigar box from Pickleberry Papercrafts and some really cute Kaisercraft Lullaby papers (which do come in blue too)
I have tried photographing it but it has proved really hard to get good shots so I have photographed the magazine photos to show you and will post some of my not so professional looking ones too!!

Here are my photos....

There are full instructions on how I created the box in the magazine if you fancy having a go a making your own. I made templates that fitted into the base and the lid of box and built up my patchwork design on the templates. I cut all my blocks and decided on the arrangement then added stitching around each one before sticking them onto the template and adding them to the box. It made life a lot easier than trying to stick everything directly into the base and trying to get the measurements right.

The lid has got lots of lace layered around the edges and lots of fussy cutting, my idea of scrapping heaven!

Follow Your Heart Again..

I'm back with more pages that I created with the beautiful Limited Edition kit from My Creative Scrapbook, the kit includes a 12x12 Be Happy chipboard sheet which has got some really lovely elements on it. I wanted to use the gorgeous butterfly one on my page but I didn't want to cover any of  it up with my photo, after a lot of fiddling around I decided that the photo had to be cut out....this was the finished result.

I never throw anything away when I am working with a kit until I know I have finished creating with it, you never know when it might come in handy, for example the little chipboard circles that I have added to the top and bottom of this page were pushed out of the scalloped border strip.

If you read my last post I mentioned the border strip at the bottom of each sheet of paper, well here is another place where I added the little cut out banner. They were just too cute to throw away!

For my final page I used another scanned image of Emily (wasn't she just adorable!) I totally love the hexagon paper in the Be Happy range, to add extra depth onto the page I curled each of the hexagons I cut out and added them onto my page using pinflair gel to support the curve.

If you want to see what the rest of the girls created with all 4 kits this month then pop over to the gallery at My Creative Scrapbook, there are some truly inspirational creations over there!
Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read my little blog.

My Creative Scrapbook - Follow Your Heart

For those of you who know me you will understand why I was so excited when I opened up the Limited Edition kit from My Creative Scrapbook and saw that it featured My Minds Eyes gorgeous new range Follow Your Heart - Be Happy! I have always loved MME! Pam has teamed up the beautiful papers with lots of Prima flowers, trinkets, fab Kaisercraft chipboard frames, ribbons, lace and so much more.

When I get a kit or any stash for that matter I try and look at lots of different ways each item can be used, for this page I decided to pull the Prima Melon vine apart and use the "twigs" as a separate embellishment. I cut two lengths and folded each one in half  and added it to the side of the photo, I also layered some up along the bottom of the photo.

On the manufacturers strip along the bottom of each sheet of paper there is a little banner with "Follow Your Heart" written on it, these were great to cut out and add that little extra detail to the pages.

Packaging is definitely worth checking out before you throw it away, the Prima Tiny Tots in the kit have a sheet in the back of the plastic box with some really usable words on it. So I cut, curled and added some to my page.

Here is the stunning Limited Edition kit, I did tell you it was jam packed full of gorgeous goodies!!

I will be back soon to show you more of this beautiful kit.

My Creative Scrapbook

As promised I am back to show you more of the gorgeous main kit from My Creative Scrapbook, if you read yesterdays post then you will know that the kit is full of loads of yummy stash! This month it features Echo Parks great This and That Graceful collection plus loads of embellishments...

I very rarely journal on my pages any more which is something that I really want to change but find so hard to do as I always feel it ruins the look of a page which is really silly I know. So on this page I did actually add some hand written journalling!

My last creation with the kit was this little thank you card....

The other kit that I got to design with this month was the Limited Edition kit which is just totally gorgeous, if you love the new MME ranges you will love this kit! I will be back tomorrow with more......

This and That Graceful

Have you seen the new Echo Park This and That Graceful range? It is gorgeous and Pam chose it to feature in this months Main kit from My Creative Scrapbook.  As always she put together an amazing kit with so many embellishments from a beautiful cloth doily to gorgeous MME buttons.  The kit was great to work with, so versatile, I loved that I was able to create pages that looked so different you would never think they were made from the same kit.

The photo is another one of my newly scanned images, still loving the scanner!!

I loved the look of the doily on the white cardstock, it seemed to create such a soft feel to the page.

I love using twine on my pages and recently I seem to have been adding it to most of my pages, Rebecca has challenged me to make it my signature and use it somewhere on everything I make....I don't think that is going to be too much of a problem!!

The Echo Park collection has got some great elements to cut out and use as well as some lovely stickers and chipboard accents. I also used the packaging from the buttons on this page I just loved the retro feel and colour of it.

As I said Pam always puts together a kit that is bursting at the seams with gorgeous goodies, just take a look at this photo.....

I will be back tomorrow to share the other layouts that I made using the kit but if you would like to see all the stunning creations that the girls have been busy creating then just head on over the the My Creative Scrapbook DT gallery.
