Gorgeous Weekend

The weather has been absolutley gorgeous over the last few days and we have been able to get out onto the cliffs. Of course I took my camera each day so I thougth I would show you a few shots from our weekend walks around the Island.
Saturdays Walk

Trying to take a bit of an arty shot!

Sundays walk, we went a way that we don't usually go today and were rewarded with some more stunning views.

Today there was no school for Rebecca as they had major electrical problems which had resulted in a power cut all weekend and still wasn't fixed in time for the kids to go to school today. Emily wasn't pleased as they made the year 10 and 11 children stay at school! Rebecca and I went for a walk with Archie.

View over to Weymouth

One of the sculptures in Tout Quarry, has got to be one of my favourites.

The weather has been too nice to be inside scrapping but at least I have got some lovely new scrapping material!

Sarahs Cards May Kit

Mays Sarahs Cards kit has been one of my favourites to work with, the kit contained some gorgeous Fancy Pants Road Show papers and lots of embellisments, my favourite being the Pink Pailsee Artisan Element which the DT decided was a bit like using chewing gum on your page but in a good way!!
One of the papers has a great frame around the outside, I wanted to raise the frame up so I cut out the middle of the page so I was just left with the frame and then stuck it onto a piece of scrap cardstock to make it more ridgid. I used long pieces of foam tape to attach it onto my page leaving a gap in the tape on the right hand side so that I could thread my ribbon through and tie it around the frame.

This kit was just crying out to be inked, ripped and distressed and went so well with the corragated card of the pizza box so I just had to use it on a page. I just cut a piece of the box to 12x12 and ripped off sections of the top layer and then dry brushed pale pink acrylic paint across the exposed areas. In the kit there was a pink heart doiley with little flowers embossed into it, instead of using it as a heart I cut out the flowers and used them as embellishments on the page. I really liked the subtle look of them.

I added a piece of kraft to create this page with lots of inking on the edges, I also took the felt flowers apart and used the pieces to create my own flowers.

A little bit of practice..

I have finally started to read my book for dummies on how to use my digital SLR, until now it has been firmly set on full auto mode! I have to say I have been really pleased with the images that it produces so it will be interesting to see how much better it gets when I know how to fiddle around with the settings. Anyway I had a little play with it tonight and Rebecca was a willing model.

We used to be avid fans of "Americas Next Top Model", for those of you who have watched it you will know all about Smising! Well Rebecca is trying to do her best smising in this photo and I think she has done a pretty good job....thanks Tyra for the modelling tips.

More October Afternoon!

One of the ladies at work is retiring and I was asked to make a card for her, card making really isn't my thing so I popped over to Tracys blog for inspiration, she makes the most wonderful cards. I found the inspiration that I was looking for and ended up creating this card, I just hope that Pat likes it! I really love these October Afternoon papers, so much so I have ordered some more.

On Saturday we went up to Thorncombe Woods to see the bluebells, we had a lovely walk through the woods and the bluebells were gorgeous. We took our nephew with us and he loved messing around with Rebecca, we found them both sticks and when we got to the pond they were on a misson to "free" the flies that had landed in the pond and got stuck! I thought I could do a layout with the title "Fly Freedom"

There was a lot of dead trees in the wood which made perfect climbing frames for them and provided lots of photo ops for me!

New Challenge.

Every month over on Sarahs Cards blog we set a challenge, this month it is to use paint on your page. I very rarely use paint on my layouts but somehow I seem to have acquired quite a collection of paint dabbers and acrylic paints!
I hand drew my scalloped border around the edge of the semicircle and painted it, I also dry brushed paint around the edge of my page instead of inking it as I would usually have done. The white thickers looked a bit stark on the green paper so I stamped a pattern on them using the same paint on a prima stamp.
I took the photo of Emily on our little trip to Bath back in April she was trying to show us the face she usually pulls when her friends take her photo.

A Bit More Scrapping

I did this page back in August last year for a project but it was never used so I thought it was about time I shared it with you, it has to be one of my favourites. My Mum sat my brother and I on the dining room table to take it, I think she had the potential to be a scrapper in the making, anything to get a good photo!!
I don't think my scrapping style has changed that much since last summer except for the lack of inking on a lot of the edges!

Scraplift

I don't often scraplift pages but when I saw this page in the latest issue of SBM I loved it and thought I would have a go. I really liked how Pam had used so much stitching and ripped edges, right up my street!

I did enjoy putting this page together but I am really not sure about the finished product, I much prefer the original and my bunting has ended up looking a bit like fat fingers!!! I think I should have made them pointy instead and used a darker cotton for my stitching so that it was more obvious. I do like the photo though!

15 Today!

As you may have guessed it is Emilys birthday today, she has reached the grand old age of 15! I took a photo of Emily like this last year after seeing a LO in Scrapbook Trends and hopefully I will remember to do it every year.

I started this page yesterday and have actually finished it today which is pretty quick for me! I bought these gorgeous October Afternoon Fly A Kite papers from Sarahs Cards a week or so ago and I just love them. I wanted to try and create a page that was a little bit different, sometimes it is so hard to not end up with a page that looks similar to lots of other pages that you have done.
The photo is of Rebecca and her German student Sarah, she came to stay with us last week for the second time. Although they hadn't seen eachother for nearly a year when they got back together it was as if they had never been apart. Rebecca is going over there in July and hopefully we will arrange our own exchange next year. Sarah is two years older than Rebecca and isn't allowed to come on the exchange next year due to exams. I really loved this photo of the two of them together, it was taken on the chain link ferry from Sandbanks to Studland.

Scrapping definitley isn't a tidy hobby! This is what my craft table looked like when I had finished, I must admit I was getting a bit frustrated with the mess as I kept knocking bits onto the floor, especially when I tried to fit the sewing machine on there as well.

Unconditional

I know I have scrapped so many of our photo shoot photos but there are still so many lovely ones to use! This photo was one of the first ones that I saw and it brought a lump to my throat I absolutley love it, it just captured something really special. I have used some more gorgeous MME Be Loved papers and some basic grey rub ons. I have got a whole drawer full of rub ons but rarely use them, I don't know why really because they can really transform a page.

My little nephew Josh is going to be 7 next week and we had his party yesterday, an ideal photo opportunity, he isn't usually very keen on having his photo taken but he was quite happy to show me his new toothless grin.

I ordered some of October Afternoon Fly a Kite papers from Sarahs Cards the other day which are absolutly gorgeous but my favouite item from the range has to be these alphabet stickers, I love them!

My Girl and Me

We have got Rebeccas German student, Sarah, staying with us at the moment so we have had a busy bank holiday weekend so far showing her the sights ofDorset! She wanted to go shopping yesterday so we took her to Poole and then onto TGI Fridays for lunch. Of course I went armed with my camera hoping to get some good photos. Justin took this one of Emily and I and I am so pleased with it, Emily rarely comes out with us now so photos of her are few and far between but to get one of us together is even rarer. People have been saying lately how alike we are and I can see what they mean now!
